RPMs and source code
Some of the stuff below is quite experimental...
- createrssfeeds
This script generates a podcast rss feed based on all mp3 files in a specific directory. Since not much information is obtainable, the filename is filled into all obligatory fields. I use this script to be able to manage the transfers of my podcasts to my mp3 player with Amarok. - podcastconvert
Because I have a very basic (read "shitty") mp3 player that cannot play back anything but ISO-standard mp3s, I often need to re-encode podcasts. This is the script that I use to re-encode my podcasts. It uses the LAME encoder. - staden-1.5.3-3.i586.SuSE92.rpm
The Staden Package is a set of interactive tools for DNA sequence assembly and editing, as well as DNA and protein sequence analysis, the best known of which is "gap4". Staden rules. Tested on a "Default System with KDE" install. Some additional packages are needed that are not installed by the SuSE installer when using the "Deault System with KDE" option. However, they are available as SuSE RPMs: gcc-g77 and pdksh. Funnily, gcc-g77 seems not to be present on my installation media, instead I had to get it from SuSE's ftp site. The installer will complain about missing nawk, but you can safely ignore that. Additionally you need to restart the computer before Staden will work. - StadenScripts0.5.pkg.sit
Staden is part of the ebiotools package for MacOS X. It's not Staden's official MacOS X package, but I find the idea of easy installation appealing since many MacOS X users are not very UNIX-savy. The ebiotools package requires Apple's developer tools and X11. To facilitate launching and assembly of sequencing data, I wrote shell scripts and wrapped them (with Platypus) into cocoa launchers/droplets. Version 0.5 contains in addition to the four Staden application launchers (pregap4, gap4, trev and spin) an additional droplet for the automatic assembly of trace files. - RDFPic-2.1-1.i586.SuSE92.rpm
RDFPic is a metadata and annotation tool for jpeg images that uses the comment section of the jpeg images to store data in the RDF (resource description framework) format. - dune-2-1.i586.SuSE92.rpm
Dune is the only Linux tool to use the Pinnacle PCTV Deluxe USB TV card. You can pipe the output to common video players, e.g. MPlayer or Xine. Works even on 333 Mhz computers with USB 1.1. - pctv_gtk-1.3-1.i586.SuSE92.rpm
The GUI for dune. My first RPM made from source. - RelGraphExt.py
This is a modified version of the Relationship Graph plugin for Gramps. Gramps stands for Genealogical Research and Analysis Management Programming System. I modified the plugin in order to be able to print out the place of birth/death in addition to the date. Under Suse Linux 9.x this plugin goes into the folder /opt/gnome/share/gramps/plugins.
