Pfsense is an extremely powerful firewall/router OS. I use the SG-1100 device and you can get lots of customized functionality due to the many packages that you can additionally install on top of the base configuration. I have just learned that I can use it to remotely switch on other computers that are on the same local network. Requirements:
- Pfsense needs to be on the same network.
- If pfsense is connected to multiple networks (which it usually is), you need to specify the network that the target machine is on.
